Transhumance - Sheep - Northern Spain - 02

Transhumance of sheep and goats from the high pastures in autumn in the Somiedo Natural Park (Parque Natural de Somiedo) - Cantabrian Mountains in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain.

It is an IUCN category V (protected landscape/seascape) - comprising not only all of Somiedo but also portions of Belmonte and Teverga.

Because of re-introduced bears not only are there sheepdogs for herding but also large Mastiff-type dogs whose sole purpose is protection from predators
