Old dew-pond on Mendip Hills in Somerset UK

Description

This type of pond is common in the Mendip Hills in Somerset UK. The base of the hollow is puddled with clay and then stones laid on top to allow livestock to access the water without destroying the clay base. The water accumulates naturally via rainfall/fog/dew hence the local name of dew-pond.
